Police: Two DOT workers dead after hit-and-run in Aiken County
Monday, March 13, 2017

AIKEN, SC (Aiken Standard) - Two S.C. Department of Transportation workers were killed in a hit-and-run in Aiken County Monday morning, according to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

Police scanner traffic indicated two DOT workers were hit at Augusta Road and Atomic Road after 8 a.m. Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. Eric Abdullah confirmed the two workers are dead.

Authorities have located a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run, Abdullah said. Earlier, authorities were looking for a tan vehicle with heavy front-end damage near S.C. 421 and 125, he said.

That section of road is blocked off at this time, according to the spokesman. One lane is blocked coming from Atomic Road, toward Augusta Road.
