Officers Search for Escaped Prison Inmate

Sumter County, SC (WLTX) - The South Carolina Department of Corrections is searching for an inmate who escaped from prison over the weekend.

Officers say Hoyle Mincey, 57, got away from the Wateree Correctional Institution in Rembert around 8:30 p.m.. Sunday. Agency leaders have not said how he escaped.

Mincey was serving an eight year sentence for a burglary offense from Cherokee County.

Mincey is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 167 pounds. He has the following tattoos: right arm (snake, dagger, joker, vicon, lion's head; left arm (mark, joker and flag, barb wire, wizard, and an eagle; chest (heart). His left ring finger is also amputated.
