Drug Take Back Day Set For Saturday

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- On Saturday people nationwide and right here in the Midlands are urged to take part in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

According to the DEA, It is estimated that 6.8 million Americans abuse prescription drugs which is almost twice as many as those abusing cocaine, heroin, and inhalants combined.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Saturday from 10am-2pm. To find a drop-off site near you call your local law enforcement office or visit the DEA website at http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/index.html
