Deputies: Suspect Kills Man Over Stolen Goods
Friday, September 26, 2014

Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County deputies have arrested a suspect who they say shot a man Thursday morning in a dispute over stolen goods.

Anthony Wayne Jeffcoat, 46, is charged with murder in the death of 41-year-old Steven Lee Boone.

Witnesses told deputies the two got into an argument in a shed behind a home in Gaston over items that the two men had recently stolen from homes. Investigators say Jeffcoat had been temporarily living at the shed.

Deputies say Jeffcoat shot Boone in the upper chest with a gun that the two men had stolen from a recently burglary. Boone died at the scene.

Officers say Jeffcoat drove away from the area, but later made arrangements to surrender to them. He's now being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
