Three men wanted for shoplifting iPads in Sumter
Monday, July 7, 2014

SUMTER, SC (WIS) - Three men from the Columbia/West Columbia area are wanted by Sumter Police after allegedly stealing 12 iPads and other items.

Yancy Martin, Jr., Miguel Scarborough, and Christian Zuniga reportedly shoplifted more than $6,000 from Wal-Mart in Sumter just after 5:30 a.m. on Thursday. Police say employees spotted three men who fled out of an emergency exit after taking a number of items that were recovered outside the store. Authorities say they recovered 12 iPads, an iPad mini and four black backpacks.

Tonyia McGirt of the Sumter Police Department says the men were reportedly seen outside of the automotive section of the store near an older red minivan.

According to detectives, the three suspects are also responsible for other incidents at other Wal-Mart locations in South Carolina.

Scarborough, 23, is wanted for shoplifting greater than $2,000 and less that $10,000 under property crimes that would be a third or subsequent offense. Martin and Zuniga, both 19, are also wanted for shoplifting greater than $2,000 and less that $10,000.
