Search for car, people, who drove away from meth lab explosion in home
Tuesday, June 10, 2014

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department says a man was injured when a meth lab exploded inside a mobile home in Northeast Richland County Tuesday.

Sgt. Curtis Wilson said previously a 3-month-old was airlifted to the Augusta Burn Center after the explosion at the mobile home off Gardenia Drive near Alpine Road. The explosion occurred just after 8 a.m.

Investigators suspect people drove a burned man to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital then continued on with a 3-month-old in the car. They have not confirmed if the child was injured.

Deputies are looking for a four-door, silver Pontiac containing three adults and an infant. They do not have a license plate number.

Wilson says one person was arrested at the mobile home park where the explosion occurred. He was identified as 20-year-old William Tenuto, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, unlawful distribution of methamphetamine waste and hazardous waste manufacturing act violation.

Investigators say a meth lab was operating inside the house. HAZMAT crews were called to the scene to clean up the meth lab.
