Lexington County Sheriff’s Foundation Jailbreak 5K Run & Walk
Monday, May 19, 2014

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - In one week, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Foundation will conduct the eighth annual Jailbreak 5K Run and Walk at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 24.

The Jailbreak 5K Run has become one of the most competitive and popular 5K runs in the Midlands, said Lee Marshall, who coordinates the Jailbreak 5K Run on behalf of the Sheriff’s Foundation. In 2013, more than 700 people participated in the event. As seen in Running Journal, Bill Marable, who serves as the United States Track and Field Association’s representative and record keeper in South Carolina, listed the Jailbreak 5K Run as one of South Carolina’s top road races in 2012 and 2013.

The Sheriff’s Foundation strives to attract top runners to compete in the Jailbreak 5K Run as well as offer a family-friendly event that appeals to persons of all ages and varying skill levels in running and walking.

“The Jailbreak 5K Run and Walk raises money for the Sheriff’s Foundation while also serving as a community-oriented event that enhances communication and cooperation between citizens and the Sheriff’s Department,” said Jacob Cook, who serves as chairman of the governing board for the non-profit Sheriff’s Foundation.
