SPRINGDALE POLICE DEPARTMENT ARRESTS 12 PEOPLE IN WEEKEND PROSTITUTION STING

SPRINGDALE, SC - Springdale Police Chief Kevin Cornett announces that the Springdale Police Department conducted a prostitution sting on February 28 and March 1, 2014 that led to the arrest of 12 people.

After receiving several tips about illegal prostitution taking place within the Town of Springdale officers initiated a prostitution operation (Operation Aphrodite) using the backpage.com website.

During the two day operation officer arrested William Fick (19) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution and Possession of Marijuana), Ephriam Oij (37) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution), Alan Jones (31) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution), Marquis Thurmond (21) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution), Dennis Glen (19) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution and Possession of Marijuana), David Leblanc (54) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution 2nd Offense), George Wise Jr (29) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution), Nathaniel Lakin (55) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution), Jose Hernandez-Villeda (25) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution), Keith Evans (23) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution), Teyon Lane (26) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution and Possession of Marijuana) and Juan Gomez-Guzman (18) (charged with Soliciting Prostitution).

All of the individuals were arrested and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.

Prostitution through the internet has become popular throughout the nation and can be used to further human trafficking.

Chief Cornett asks that anyone with information about human trafficking or prostitution activities notify their local law enforcement agencies.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
