Officials arrest man charged with murder, robbery, kidnapping, and burglary

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrest of Stanley jones, 26, who was charged with murder, 3 counts of armed robbery, 2 counts of kidnapping, assault, and burglary in three jurisdictions.

Lott states that Jones has committed several violent offenses in Richland County, the City of Columbia, and Forest Acres.

Jones was arrested on Tuesday, March 4th in Norfolk, Virginia by the City of Norfolk Virginia Police Department Fugitive Team. He was located in an area hotel after investigators followed up on leads and tips from the community.

Jones was arrested without incident.

Lott states that Jones has used a knife, pistol and shotgun. He is tied to seven incidents since December 2013.On February 4, Jones and an unknown suspect kicked in the door to a residence on Brookfield Road. Jones shot the male victim in the upper body; he was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.

The victim died on Tuesday, February 25th.

Jones is in the process of being transported back to Richland County and placed in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
