Police seek man who fled crash during pursuit
Thursday, February 6, 2014

LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - Two men were taken to the hospital and one man is on the loose after a police pursuit ended in a crash Sunday afternoon.

Lexington Police Lt. Carroll Bledsoe said police responded to an unrelated call at Target around 4 p.m. when officers noticed three men with merchandise that was reported stolen.

The men drove off at a high rate of speed and crashed into a tree a short while later on Northside Blvd. near Interstate 20, Bledsoe said.

One of the men fled the scene of the crash and was last seen near Cromer Rd. and Oak Drive, Bledsoe said.

Police later identified him as Skip James Watson.

Watson is wanted for possession of methamphetamine, failure to stop for blue lights, failure to obey a police officer, shoplifting, and possession of stolen property. He is a white male, 31 years of age, approximately 6'3" and weighs 185 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Watson's last known address is 834 Sloan Road in Inman, South Carolina.

Bledsoe said the other two men were transported to the hospital and are expected to be ok.

They are facing several charges including shoplifting, possession of methamphetamine and failure to stop for blue lights. Police did not release their identities.

Some of the stolen merchandise was recovered from the truck and methamphetamine was also found, Bledsoe said.

No officer was injured.

Anyone who may know the whereabouts of Watson is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
