Officials seek suspects in Brookfield Rd. shooting

COLUMBIA (WACH) – Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is requesting the community’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted for attempted murder.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that just before midnight on Tuesday, February 4th on Brookfield Road, two suspects kicked in the door to the residence. The Sheriff stated that upon entry, the suspects shot the male victim in the upper body. He was transported to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in serious condition.

Lott stated that the suspects were looking to steal money and drugs from the victims. The sheriff added that when the deputies went inside the residence to retrieve the victim’s identification, they saw in plain view several mason jars of marijuana in the bedroom.

Sheriff Lott asks that if you have any information or know the identity of the suspects to please call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
