Suspects open fire on pursuing witness after Pizza Joint robbery
Wednesday, January 8, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Forest Acres Police are looking for two men who held up the employees and patrons of Pizza Joint late Tuesday evening.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 11:45 p.m. Investigators say two black males, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered the restaurant and robbed the store of money and the customers of their personal belongings.

Officials say the pair were chased by a witness while they fled the scene, and the armed suspect opened fire on that person. That person was not hit in the gunfire and stopped pursuing the men immediately.

Investigators with the Richland County Sheriff's Department and the Columbia Police Department were also at the scene. The K9 unit attempted to track the suspects, but was unsuccessful.

Police say one of the suspects was wearing a dark "puffy" jacket and a gray mask while the other was wearing a blue/green camouflage jacket.
