Suspect Arrested and Charged in Sexual Molestation Investigation

Lancaster, SC – On 12/28/2013 the Sheriff’s Office received information alleging that Dennis Fred Rutledge (W/M DOB: 06-12-1951 Address: 2061 John Everall Rd. Lancaster, SC) had been having inappropriate sexual contact with a female juvenile. Investigators began a detailed investigation and have since charged Rutledge with 5 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a minor 1st Degree, 2 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a minor 3rd Degree, and 1 count of Exposure of private parts in a Lewd and Lascivious manner. Investigators have determined that there are multiple juvenile victims all age 12 or under and multiple incidents of the molestation. Rutledge was placed under arrest on 12/31/2013 and jailed at the Lancaster County Detention Center. His bond has been denied. The case remains under investigation.

Sheriff Faile said, “It’s unfortunate that we have people in our society that prey on young children like this. I am thankful that PCASA (Palmetto Citizens Against Sexual Assault) and our investigators were able to work together and make this arrest quickly. Often times, incidents like this go unreported and encourage any other victims of sexual of sexual assault to come forward.”
