DEPUTIES ARREST CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER
LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies on Monday, January 6 arrested a 34-year-old Cayce man who was wanted on an arrest warrant for failure to register with the Sheriff’s Department as a convicted sex offender.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies arrested Arian Shahpour Armstrong, 34, of 529 Riverside Lane, Cayce, at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday at Armstrong’s home. Armstrong was being held on Tuesday, January 7 at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $1,092.50 bond.
An arrest warrant alleges that Armstrong moved from Richland County to Lexington County and did not register with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department as a convicted offender as Armstrong is required to do under South Carolina law, Metts said. Under South Carolina law, Armstrong is required to register with the Sheriff’s Department as a convicted sex offender because Armstrong resides in Lexington County and was convicted in Florida on August 29, 1999 of committing a lewd or lascivious act on a child who was under the age of 16.
