Friday, November 1, 2013

COLUMBIA, SC - Interim Police Chief Ruben Santiago announces an arrest in a Five Points strong arm robbery investigation.

Paul Antonio Coleman (DOB: 2-9-1994) is charged with Two Counts Strong Arm Robbery.

Coleman was out on bond on a robbery charge from Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Two male victims tell CPD that they were walking in an alleyway when Coleman followed them.

Coleman allegedly demanded their belongings shortly before 3:30 a.m. last Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the 700 block of Saluda Avenue.

Coleman is further accused of making off with a small amount of cash and a smart phone, before running from the scene.

Investigators continue to investigate an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m., on October 27, 2013.

A victim tells CPD that he was walking alone near the railroad tracks at the 2300 block of Greene Street when two male suspects approached him demanding his belongings.

The victim says that at least one of the suspects used a gun to commit the crime.

Then both ran from the scene after taking cash and a smart phone.

The victim describes the suspect with gun as being a black male, last seen wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt and gray pants. The victim was not able to provide a description of the second suspect.

In gathering information and following tips on both cases, CPD Investigators continue to determine if both cases are connected or not.

CPD Investigations are still seeking identification on four remaining persons of interest regarding these ongoing investigations.
