Three hit with prostitution charges after missing 15-year-old located
Thursday, October 31, 2013

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Three people have been arrested and hit with various prostitution charges after the Richland County Sheriff's Department conducted an undercover operation to locate a missing 15-year-old believed to be a victim of human trafficking.

Sheriff Leon Lott says 25-year-old Tavia Singleton, 28-year-old Marc Powell, and 24-year-old Jerome Walker have all been charged with prostitution of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Lott says investigators determined during their search for the minor that she may have been influenced by Singleton, Powell, and Walker to become a prostitute.

The search for the teen began on Oct. 24 when she left the home without telling her family where she was going.

Deputies eventually located the teen and made the arrests.

Singleton, Powell, and Walker have been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Additional charges could be coming.

Investigators think the victim and other young girls were recruited by the trio. If you have any information or know of any additional victims, you are asked to call the Special Victims Unit at 803-576-3115.
