Sheriff’s Office Investigating Homicide

Lancaster, SC – On Monday Oct. 28th at approximately 07:30am the Sheriff’s Office responded to 2615 Home Place after receiving a report that someone had been killed at the residence. Upon arrival Deputies found the victim, 54 year old Elaine Ghent deceased in the bedroom. The victim had been stabbed. The Deputies also found her husband John M. Ghent (W/M DOB: 10/27/1959 Address: 2615 Homeplace) in the kitchen floor. John Ghent had injuries received after fighting with another family member who found Elaine Ghent deceased.

Crime Scene Investigators and Criminal Investigators arrived on scene and began a detailed investigation. John Ghent has been arrested and charged with murder.

Sheriff Faile said, “Incidents of family violence are especially tough to deal with and our thoughts and prayers are with Ms. Ghent’s family.
