OFFICERS DONATE MORE THAN $10,000 TO SOUTH CAROLINA SPECIAL OLYMPICS
LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - Officers with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Lexington Police Department and University of South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement and Safety donated $10,400 to South Carolina Special Olympics.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said the donation of $10,400 reflected proceeds from the Cops on Top of Doughnut Shops fund raiser that officers with the three agencies conducted between September 25 and September 27 at Krispy Kreme stores on Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce and Sunset Boulevard in Lexington. Officers accepted donations for Special Olympics from Krispy Kreme customers, with all proceeds benefitting Special Olympics.
Sgt. Lee Barrett coordinated the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Cops on Top of Doughnut Shops fund raiser, Metts said. Money that Krispy Kreme customers donated to law enforcement officers will be used to help pay for athletes to compete in state and national Special Olympics competitions.
The participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Cops on Top of Doughnut Shops fund raiser reflects the agency’s mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
