MAN ARRESTED FOR BREAKING INTO MOTOR VEHICLES
LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies on Friday, September 27 arrested a 19-year-old Columbia man on charges that the man broke into one motor vehicle and tampered with a second motor vehicle. Both vehicles were parked at homes on Ripley Station Road near Irmo.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies arrested Christian Stephen Windom, 19, of 1340 Longcreek Drive, Unit 303, Columbia, on charges of breaking into a motor vehicle and tampering with a motor vehicle. Windom was being held on Friday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.
At about 11:49 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, deputies responded to a call concerning a motor vehicle break-in that was in the process of being committed outside a home on Ripley Station Road, Metts said. Witnesses provided deputies with a physical description of a man whom the witnesses observed tampering with a motor vehicle outside a home on Ripley Station Road.
Deputies saw Windom walking near the intersection of Cannondale Road and Cannondale Court, carrying a black canvas Targus zipper bag that is used to transport a laptop computer, Metts said. Deputies found that the canvas bag contained an Acer Aspire laptop computer worth about $500 that had been reported stolen from a motor vehicle that was parked outside a home on Ripley Station Road. The Ripley Station Road home is located less than one block away from where deputies detained Windom.
