KERSHAW COUNTY MAN FOUND GUILITY OF SEVERAL COUNTS OF CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONDUCT AND LEWD ACTS SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON

Columbia, SC – On Friday, September 20 th , James W. Owens was found guilty of one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) with a Minor in the first degree and two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor in the second degree. He was also found guilty of two counts of lewd acts.

During a week-long trial in Kershaw County, the State presented 16 witnesses. After deliberating for approximately 3 ½ hours, the jury returned a guilty verdict on all five charges.

The Honorable Judge Cothran sentenced Owen to 25 years on the CSC in the first degree, 18 years on both counts of CSC in the second degree, and 10 years on both counts of Lewd Acts. Owens’ sentence will run concurrently.
