West Columbia Police Make Arrest in Death Investigation

West Columbia, SC – The West Columbia Police Department has made an arrest in the death investigation that was initiated Thursday, August 1, 2013.

According to Chief Dennis Tyndall, his investigators have charged Mykell Anthony Lerch, age 21, of 1137 Seminole Drive, West Columbia. Lerch is charged with one count of Murder in connection with the altercation that led to the death of Mark Alexander Zeigler, age 32, also of 1137 Seminole Drive. Tyndall stated the two men were fighting in the home and Lerch strangled Zeigler to death during the struggle.

Lerch is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
