Shooting Suspect Arrested
Sunday, August 4, 2013

Lancaster, SC – On 08/03/2013 at approximately 6:25 PM Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to WoodCreek Apartments on W. Meeting St. in Lancaster after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival Deputies located two men in the parking lot that were injured. Victim #1, a 31 year male Lancaster resident had been shot and Victim #2, a 36 year old male Lancaster resident had been badly beaten. Witnesses reported that two men fled from the scene into the woods. Patrol Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office and Lancaster City Police Officers located and detained those two men who were later identified as the suspects. EMS arrived on scene and transported both victims to the hospital where they were ultimately airlifted from the local hospital and taken to CMC. Both are still hospitalized.

Criminal Investigators and Crime Scene Investigators arrived on scene and began a detailed investigation. Investigators ultimately charged Kyndra Dynise Jones (B/F DOB: 03/18/1993 Address: 117 South Woodlawn Dr. Lancaster), Brandon J'lil Thompson( B/M DOB: 01/26/1992 Address: 4011 Stonesboro Rd. Heath Springs), and Ronnel Chelvis Thompson(B/M DOB: 05/07/1992 Address: 1739 Usher Rd. Lancaster) with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature. Ronnel Thompson was additionally charged with Attempted Murder. All three suspects were jailed at the Lancaster County Detention Center and are awaiting a bond hearing.

The investigation thus far has revealed that the suspects had a dispute with Victim #2 regarding a pack of cigarettes and that all three suspects repeatedly punched and kicked the victim in the parking lot. Victim #1 armed himself with a firearm, came to the aid of the man that was being assaulted, and attempted to stop the assault. Ronnel Thompson produced a firearm and fired multiple shots at victim #1 who was shot. All three suspects fled the scene. R. Thompson and B. Thompson were located by patrol units following the foot chase through the woods. Jones turned herself in at the Sheriff’s Office several hours later.

Sheriff Faile said, “Our thoughts are with the victims and we hope they are able to recover. I am extremely pleased with the way our personnel and the City PD personnel were able to come together and handle this case so quickly. Job Well Done.”
