Thursday, August 8, 2013

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A man is under arrest after troopers say he hit and killed a pedestrian near Ridge View High School Wednesday night and then fled the scene.

According to a spokesperson for the South Carolina Highway Patrol, 27-year-old Tres Reep has been charged with leaving the scene involving death, driving too fast for conditions and illegal window tint.

Troopers say Reep was driving a 2006 Chevy pickup truck that collided with a pedestrian on Hardscrabble Road around 10:10 p.m. He was taken into custody approximately three hours after the collision.

Reep was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center to await a bond hearing.

Authorities have not released the identity of the victim.

The crash is being investigated by the Highway Patrol's Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
