COPS ON TOP OF DOUGHNUT SHOPS

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - In four weeks, officers with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and Lexington Police Department in cooperation with Krispy Kreme will conduct the annual Cops on Top of Doughnut Shops fund raiser for South Carolina Special Olympics on Wednesday, September 25, Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27 at Krispy Kreme stores on Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce and Sunset Boulevard in Lexington. Officers will accept donations for Special Olympics from customers at the Krispy Kreme stores, with all proceeds benefitting Special Olympics.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies will accept donations for Special Olympics from customers at a Krispy Kreme store at 1200 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, between 12 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25 and between 6 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27.

Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green said police officers will accept donations for Special Olympics from customers at a Krispy Kreme store at 5594 Sunset Boulevard, Lexington, between 12 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25 and between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27.

Money that Krispy Kreme customers donate to law enforcement officers will be used to help pay for athletes to compete in state and national Special Olympics competitions, Metts said. The participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Cops on Top of Doughnut Shops fund raiser reflects the agency’s mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
