Two men sought for attempted murder
Saturday, July 6, 2013

AIKEN, SC - The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is searching for two men wanted for attempted murder in relation to a shooting incident last month.

Torveese Devylle Kirkland, 25, of Abney Road in Monetta, is wanted for attempted murder. Jemmell Jermaine Morris, 32, of Williams Street in Ridge Spring, is wanted for attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Both men should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

The two men are accused in a shooting incident that happened at a home on Trojan Road in Monetta about 6:30 p.m. on June 23, according to Capt. Eric Abdullah, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.

Officers were called to a shooting incident at the scene, and after arriving found the front door slightly opened, Abdullah said. Deputies searched the home for victims, as well as physical evidence, but found none.

“There was some evidence on the front door indicating there was forced entry that occurred prior to them being there,” Abdullah said.

Investigators later found out that the victim, a 26-year-old man, had arrived at Aiken Regional Medical Centers with a gunshot wound to the lower stomach, according to Abdullah. They then went to the hospital to interview the victim.

Abdullah said a motive for the shooting is not known.

Morris is described as a black male, 6-feet-1-inch tall and weighing 173 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Kirkland is described as a black male, 6-feet-4-inches tall and weighing 220 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

A vehicle description was not available.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kirkland or Morris is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 803-648-6811, or CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at 888-CRIME-SC.
