Two injured in carjacking, assailants on the run
Tuesday, July 23, 2013

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Richland County deputies are searching for the people responsible for a carjacking that sent two people to the hospital early Tuesday morning.

According to a spokesperson for the Richland County Sheriff's Department, the incident started around 2 a.m. at Austin Woods Apartments on Garners Ferry Road. Sergeant Curtis Wilson says two people inside a 2011 Ford Fusion were approached by two black males asking for a ride.

The victims took the suspects to the 1600 block of Pin Cushion Road where things took a turn for the worse.

Wilson says one of the suspects pulled out a large knife and stabbed one of the victims in the upper and lower body. During the struggle, the other victim suffered some abrasions.

The two suspects then took off in the victims' car.

Both victims were transported to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in stable condition.

Wilson was not able to give a good description of the suspects but did say the license plate on the stolen vehicle is HVP-975.
