Man arrested for uploading images of young females being sexually assaulted
Thursday, June 20, 2013

LEXINGTON, SC - A Lexington man has been arrested on charges involving sexual exploitation of minors, according to South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.

Wilson announced the arrest of Scott Eric Fernquist, 18, Thursday.

The Lexington Police Department, a member of the Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, made the arrest Tuesday.

The case originated as a CyberTip from the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children, Wilson said. It is alleged that on April 6, 2013, Fernquist uploaded image files depicting females between the ages of 4 and 14 being sexually assaulted by adult males.

Fernquist is charged with eleven counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable by two to ten years imprisonment on each count.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.

Wilson said all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
