DRIVER WANTED IN DRAGGING DEATH IDENTIFIED; ARREST WARRANT PENDING
Wednesday, June 26, 2013

COLUMBIA, SC - Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago hopes the public will recognize a man who is wanted in connection with a dragging death investigation.

CPD Investigators are preparing an arrest warrant for 29-year-old Dany Alexander Zuniga-Torres (DOB: 7-22-1983) who is considered a flight risk.

Once located and arrested, Zuniga-Torres is expected to be charged with Hit and Run Resulting in Death.

Zuniga-Torres’ last known address was 715 Center Street, West Columbia.

He may also have ties to Florida and Honduras.

Zuniga-Torres is accused of driving a blue/silver Dodge mini-van with a white, enclosed trailer at the time that a man was dragged to death Sunday night in the area of Union Street.

The victim became entangled underneath the trailer, causing him to be dragged more than 1600 feet.

Surveillance cameras captured the van in the area of Sunset Drive and Main Street on the night of the incident.

CPD Investigators continue to follow leads in the case, including CRIMESTOPPERS tips.
