According to a news release, officers executed operation, “Shake, Rattle, and Roll” in the Newbery area on Monday and arrested and charged eleven people with one count of attempting to purchase excessive quantity of pseudoephedrine. Each was jailed at the Newberry County Detention Center pending a bond hearing. Those arrested were:

The report said the investigation revealed that the above individuals attempted to purchase more than nine grams of ephedrine, or pseudoephedrine, per month.

According to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, 40-year-old Paula Dianne Beach, 21-year-old Johnathon Blake Crumpton and 40-year-old Christopher Lee Gonzales are still being sought in connection with this investigation.

Deputies say Beach, Crumpton and Gonzales will also be charged with one count of attempting to purchase excessive quantity of pseudoephedrine.

Sheriff Lee Foster stated that “We have a responsibility as law enforcement officers and citizens of this county, to work proactively to keep this community safe and maintain that standard. We take that responsibility seriously in partnering with the community and it is our aim to seek out those who continue to oppose that standard.”

“While at first glance this seems a minor offense, it should be clear that these drugs are nearly always sought to perpetuate an illegal meth manufacturing lab. Meth destroys lives, families, and communities and this is our effort to be proactive in our approach to stop these labs by eliminating the supplies needed to make the drug,” said Foster.

Additional arrests are expected.
