Violent video likely shot in Florence Co. goes viral
Thursday, April 4, 2013

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A violent "YouTube" video goes viral, and police say there are reasons to believe it was filmed in Florence County. The video uploaded on Saturday March 29 quickly went viral. The video showed several men beating up another man in broad daylight. The video was uploaded by someone with the username, "Donbarz."

The video was removed from the "YouTube" website Wednesday night.

The 1:20 long video is filled with curse words. At one point the alleged attackers call the person on the ground "a snitch."

Captain Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff's Office said all aspects of the video are under investigation, including the person who posted it. Captain Nunn said there was no reason to believe the video wasn't authentic, but it is possible. Captain Nunn said it's hard to charge anyone without any victims or witnesses coming forward.

"It's certainly very difficult to prosecute for an incident where there is no complainant and no alleged victim," Captain Nunn said.

Anyone with information about the video is asked to call the Florence County Sheriff's Office. Calls can remain completely anonymous.
