Columbia Police Search for Kidnapping, Assault Suspect
Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Columbia police are looking for a man they say abducted a woman from the 200 block of Greystone Boulevard Tuesday.

They're looking for 40-year-old James Murphy Brigman, Jr. Police expect to charge him with kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Investigators say Brigman and the victim knew each other. The victim says she was leaving a meeting and heading to her vehicle when Brigman took her against her will to Calhoun County.

Police believe Brigman may be driving a red, 2002 Chevy Colorado with South Carolina tag IUP 375.

If you have any information about where Brigman may be, you're encouraged to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, submit a tip at midlandscrimestoppers.com, or text your tip to 274637, and mark the beggining of the message with "TIPSC."
