RCSD announces American Legion Post 193 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC - Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is proud to announce that Sergeant Maria Yturria is the American Legion Post 193 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that on Thursday, March 14th, 2013, American Legion Post 193 presented Sergeant Maria Yturria of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s Victim Services Division with the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award. The Sheriff stated that the award was presented by Post Adjutant, William Chick (Maria and Mr. Chick are in the attached photograph) for the unwavering support Maria has provided the community and for her efforts toward improving the lives of our citizens.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that he is proud of the work that Sergeant Yturria has done and continues to do for our communities and victims. Her accomplishments reflect highly on the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the Victim Services Division; and are in keeping with our mission of “Building Unity in the Community through Professionalism, Passion, Vision and Commitment”. The Sheriff added that Maria possesses all of these characteristics and applies them to her work and interactions every day.

Sheriff Leon Lott added that the Victim’s Services Division provides an invaluable resource to our citizens and he is extremely proud of everyone who works tirelessly to promote a better quality of life for all victims.
