COLUMBIA, SC - Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott announces the arrest of a man accused of physically assaulting another man in Five Points last month.

Donnell Rashied Burney (5/14/1992) is charged with Second Degree Assault by a Mob.

Burney and two unknown co-defendants allegedly fought with the victim in front of 805 Harden Street shortly after 2:00 o’clock in the morning on February 16, 2013.

Burney is accused of striking the victim in his head and face area, throwing the victim on the ground and kicking him in his face and head area.

As a result, the victim lost consciousness and suffered from a fractured jaw.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Burney was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

All persons charged/arrested are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
