2013 Midlands Green Business Challenge
Tuesday, March 12, 2013

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - The Lexington County and City of Columbia Green Business Programs are holding the second Midlands Green Business Challenge. The Midlands Green Business Challenge is a five-month sustainability competition open to workplaces of all sizes in Richland and Lexington Counties.

A regional governmental partnership between the City of Columbia, Lexington County and Richland County, the free Midlands Green Business Challenge asks participants to select four of six sustainability goals and complete them by August 15.

Participants who meet and exceed their goals will be in the running for a grand prize package, which includes special recognition at the SC Green is Good for Business Conference, a team registration for the Lexington County Industry Appreciation Golf Tournament, breakfast for four at the Capital City Club and a $200 Office Depot gift card.

Organizers are providing assistance to participants throughout the Challenge through networking breakfasts for businesses where organizations can hear first hand from other businesses about ways to meet sustainability goals. The next Green Business breakfast will be Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. at the Lexington County Red Bank Crossing Facility (1070 South Lake Dr., Lexington). The breakfast is free but seating is limited.

Besides the City of Columbia, Lexington County and Richland County, Midlands Green Business Challenge partners include Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, S.C. Energy Office, SCE&G, Keep the Midlands Beautiful and Columbia Regional Business Report.

To register for the Green Business Breakfast call 803-785-3340. Information on the Midlands Green Business Challenge and registration forms are available online at www.midlandsgreenbizchallenge.com.
