Rock Throwing Suspect (s) continues -- Wanted for Attempted Murder

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC - Sheriff Leon Lott states that on eight additional occasions (total of ten since January 12, 2013) unknown suspect(s) have thrown rocks or cinder block pieces from overpasses and roadsides, at passing vehicles, causing major damage and sending people to the hospital.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that witnesses and victims are describing the suspect as a white male possibly driving a white pick up truck (possibly a Ford or Silverado style). The eight additional incidents occurred last night (January 20, 2013) between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM causing major damage to vehicles. Thankfully no one was injured last night – the additional incidents took place at:

  • Broad River Road and Sid Sites Road
  • Mt. Vernon Road and the Interstate Overpass
  • Broad River at Lowman Barn Road
  • I26 at Broad River Road
  • Mount Vernon at Stonehill
  • Broad River at Sid Sites Road
  • Broad River Road at the 5600 Block
  • Mt. Vernon Church Road and Broad River Road

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that this suspect will be charged with attempted murder in connection with these senseless acts; and that anyone who knows who is responsible or may be involved, and does not come forward, they too will be charged in connection with these ridiculous acts.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Richland County Sheriff’s Department Investigators are working to determine who’s responsible.
