MAN ARRESTED FOR DISTRIBUTING COCAINE
LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - Officers with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) on Monday, January 7 arrested a 37-year-old Lexington man on an arrest warrant that alleges that the 37-year-old man distributed cocaine outside his residence to a confidential reliable informant, who was working with NET officers as part of an undercover investigation.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said officers arrested Charles Alton “Charlie” Morehouse, 37, of 165 Willow Forks Road, Lexington, at about 2 p.m. on Monday on an arrest warrant on a charge of distribution of cocaine. Morehouse was being held on Monday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.
An arrest warrant alleges that on November 2, 2012 Morehouse distributed cocaine to the confidential reliable informant, Metts said. NET officers initiated the undercover investigation after the confidential informant told officers that he knew someone who distributed cocaine. Officers identified Morehouse as the drug dealer after they initiated the investigation.
Morehouse is the husband of Crystal Morehouse, who serves as Metts’ administrative assistant, Metts said. While NET officers found no information that Crystal Morehouse was involved in or had knowledge of drug deals involving Charles Morehouse, Metts placed Crystal Morehouse on administrative leave with pay following the arrest of Charles Morehouse.
