Deputies seek suspected beer thief after partner in crime shot by store manager
Monday, January 14, 2013

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Deputies hope the public can help them identify a man who ran away after his alleged partner in crime was shot by the manager of a store they are accused of robbing last week.

Investigators say the unidentified man and Clyde Manigo, 50, walked into the Shell gas station at 7441 Parklane Road just after midnight on January 8 and stole four cases of beer.

After grabbing the beer, the suspects ran out and jumped into a waiting vehicle, driven by Andrew Walker, 30, investigators said. The store manager fired at the three as they drove away, hitting Walker several times.

The manager told WIS he was aiming at the tires to try to disable the vehicle.

Manigo and Walker turned themselves in at a location near the store. The third suspect fled.

Walker was taken to an area hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. He will be charged with shoplifting upon release.

The other suspect, Clyde Manigo, 50, was taken into custody and charged with shoplifting.

Deputies have not been able to identify the third suspect.

The sheriff's department is working with the 5th Circuit Solicitor's Office to determine if the store manager will be charged.
