Report: Store clerk robbed while dumping mop water
Tuesday, December 4, 2012

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a robbery at a local business.

On Nov. 27, officers responded to Murphy Oil located on Knoll Station Drive in reference to a robbery.

According to an incident report, while a deputy was doing a routine property check, he noticed a store clerk running around the right side of the building.

The clerk approached the patrol car and stated that he had just been robbed, according to sheriff’s deputies.

The report said the clerk was going out the back door of the business to dump mop water, when he was met by a black male wearing a white hoodie, dark pants and tennis shoes.

Deputies say the man told the clerk to turn around and walk to the register.

The clerk told officers as he began to walk toward the register he felt the suspect press an object into his back and say “I don’t want to shoot you,” the report stated. The clerk unlocked the register and the suspect took $250, deputies say.

The suspect then led the clerk back out the back door and told him to start walking to the right and “don’t look back or I’ll shoot you,” the report stated.

Deputies say that’s when the clerk saw the deputy patrolling the area.

The clerk told the officer the suspect fled the scene towards Zaxby’s.

According to sheriff’s deputies, the suspect is described as a black male with long dreadlocks to the middle of his chest, 5’07”, 160-180lbs. and about 40-45 years old. The suspect was last seen wearing a white hoodie, dark pants and tennis shoes.
