HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE
Wednesday, December 5, 2012

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC -
The Columbia Classic Chevy Club will conduct a drive-in event between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 8 at the Woodberry Plaza shopping center at the intersection of Woodberry Road and U.S. 1 near West Columbia in order to donate new, unwrapped toys to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department for the agency’s annual Holiday Toy Drive.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts encourages citizens to donate new, unwrapped toys for the Holiday Toy Drive. Toys that are donated to the Sheriff’s Department will be distributed to children in Lexington County who are in need of assistance.

Citizens who have questions concerning the drop-in event can contact William Clayborne with the Columbia Classic Chevy Club at (803) 606-0509, Metts said.

Lt. Kevin Blackmon is coordinating the toy drive, Metts said. Citizens who have questions concerning donations can contact Blackmon at his office at (803) 785-2411.

Toys that are donated to the Sheriff’s Department will be provided to The Salvation Army, which will distribute the toys to children who are in need of assistance, Metts said.

Metts said donations of new, unwrapped toys will be accepted until Christmas Eve at the following Sheriff’s Department facilities:

* Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington
* North Region Service Center, 111 Lincreek Drive, Columbia
* South Region Service Center, 102 Airport Road, Pelion
* West Region Headquarters, 4079-B Augusta Highway, Gilbert

Monetary donations also will be accepted at the four Sheriff’s Department facilities, Metts said. Checks should be made payable to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, noting that the check is for the Holiday Toy Drive.

The Holiday Toy Drive reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
