Sheriff’s Office Arrests Suspect in String of Larcenies

LANCASTER COUNTY, SC - On Thursday 11/22/2012 the Sheriff’s Office arrested Altonio Demonte Huntley (B/M DOB: 06/10/1994 Address: 2603 Potter St. Lancaster, SC) in connection to a string of Larcenies from Cook’s Transmission at 113 Twilight Rd. in Lancaster. On Thursday 11/22/2012 at approximately 10:00pm a deputy sheriff on routine patrol stopped to check the business. While the deputy was checking the property, he observed Huntley hiding behind a boat on the property. Huntley fled from the deputy into a wooded area. Additional deputy sheriffs and Lancaster City officers responded to the area and Huntley was arrested nearby and charged with trespassing.

Upon further investigation, Huntley was identified as the suspect in several previous larcenies at the business. Huntley has been charged in the following incidents.

3 counts of Breaking and Entering into an Automobile- 11/14/2012 Huntley broke into three vehicles on the lot and stole the batteries from them.

1 count Damaging or tampering with a vehicle- Between 11/06/12-11/09/12 Huntley damaged a vehicle on the lot

1 count Damaging or tampering with a vehicle- On 10/29/12 Huntley damaged a vehicle on the lot in an attempt to gain entry

1 count Breaking and Entering into an Automobile- On 10/23/12 Huntley broke into a vehicle and stole a DVD player, DVD’s, and video screens.

1 count Breaking and Entering into an Automobile- On 10/03/12 Huntley broke into a vehicle and stole stereo equipment.

Huntley remains incarcerated at the Lancaster County Detention Center on a $36,000 surety bond.

Sheriff Faile said, “We are pleased to have these cases solved. Deputy Griffey did a great job and I applaud him for his alert attention to his duties. Our patrol division does a good job checking all of the property in the county and this case was cracked because we are getting out of the car and walking around these businesses. ”
