Report: Children found living among roaches, animal feces
Tuesday, November 20, 2012

CLOVER, SC (WBTV) - A York County man was arrested Friday after deputies say he abused the children and animals in his home.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Whitworth Road on Nov. 12 in reference to a well being check on children, according to the report from the York County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrived at the home to find deplorable living conditions; roaches, feces from cats abnd dogs and holes in the floor were all visible.

Beer cans were found piled in the children's bedroom, according to the report.

The animals living at the home were also reported to be in poor health.

Deputies attempted to locate Byron Lee Miller but were unsucessful because he ran from the residence when he saw deputies arriving.

Deputies were called back out to the residence later that day after one of the children living there said Miller hit him.

Miller again fled the residence before deputies arrived.

The York County Department of Social Services was contacted and started a case file, according to the report.

On Friday, Sheriff's deputies arrived unexpectedly at the home and found Miller hiding in a closet after Kimberly Miller told investigators that he was not at home.

Byron Lee Miller is charged with ill treatment of animals and two counts of neglect of a child, according to the report.

Kimberly Miller was charged with giving false information to police.

Both were placed in the York County Dentention Center.
