CPD AND VETS TO DELIVER THANKSGIVING BASKETS THIS WEEKEND
Friday, November 16, 2012

COLUMBIA, SC - Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott, the Columbia Police Department and the Retired Armed Forces and Veterans Club are teaming up once again to deliver Thanksgiving baskets to worthy Columbia families.

The Veterans group raised funds and purchased the food items to fill close to thirty baskets.

The baskets will contain many of the essential Thanksgiving items including a turkey, and non-perishable canned goods. Some of the baskets will go to the CPD for distribution.

Chief Randy Scott says, “This is the season of giving. The Department knows of several families in need. We want to make sure folks have food on the table for Thanksgiving and the days afterward. Our ACE program (Assisting Columbia’s Elderly) will put the baskets to good use.”

The Retired Armed Forces and Veterans Club will deliver the baskets to CPD Headquarters on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.

Donald Davis, President of the Retired Armed Forces and Veterans Club says, “We have two mottos that we use; ‘We are our brother’s keeper’ and ‘We are here to serve’ Our group is dedicated to supporting needy families during Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. We want to set an example.”

If you, or someone you know, have any information regarding any crime, you are encouraged to contact Crimestoppers. You could earn a reward up to $1,000.
