Thursday, November 1, 2012

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - UPS Foundation in partnership with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Timberlake Plantation Owners Association and Timberlake Country Club on Wednesday, October 31 donated checks totaling $17,000 to GoodWorks, a ministry that was created in 2002 to help persons who are in need of assistance in the Chapin, Little Mountain, Irmo and Prosperity communities. The donation reflected, in part, proceeds from the second annual Timberlake Youth Triathlon, which was conducted on August 25 at Timberlake Country Club near Chapin.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said all proceeds from the Timberlake Youth Triathlon benefitted GoodWorks. A total of 80 children ages 5 to 12 competed in the triathlon.

The Timberlake Youth Triathlon was sponsored by Timberlake Plantation Owners Association, Timberlake Country Club, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Gallup & Gallup, Green Earth Lawn Service, Chapin Pediatrics, Harrell & Associates, P.A., Clark’s Home and Construction Solutions, Dr. Pepper/Snapple, Palmetto Health, Palmetto Graphix, Anytime Fitness, REMAX Real Estate Chapin, Chapin Eye Care Center, O’Leary Orthodontics, Midlands Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Capt. Lee Marshall, Kit and Johnny Oswald, Statewide Insurance Group, Craig and Joy Carpenter and Bi-Lo in Chapin, Metts said.

The Timberlake Youth Triathlon and the donation of money to GoodWorks reflect the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
