Sheriff partners with youth soccer league – SCUFC brings 225 Teams from 5 States to Midlands
Thursday, October 4, 2012

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC - Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is proud to support youth athletics and any program that provides a positive supportive environment for our children’s success.

Annually, Sheriff Leon Lott provides deputies to participate, mentor, coach and teach our young people character education, athleticism and sportsmanship. This year is no different and Deputies will again support South Carolina United FC’s Carolina Cup.

This year’s event, on October 6 and 7, 2012, will host competitive soccer for children from the ages of 9 to 13 and involve families from 5 states (Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and South Carolina). Athletes will travel to the Midlands and stay in hotel rooms and patronize our community businesses – while competing for championship medals and trophies. The boys and girls will be playing at the Polo Road, Ballentine Park and Garners Ferry Road Recreation Facilities as well as the Northwest YMCA, Midlands Orthopedic and BB&T Complexes.

South Carolina United FC Executive Director of Soccer, Tripp Miller, stated that this is the club’s largest event held each year and provides a dynamic environment for our children to develop as soccer players and young adults.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that youth athletics provide the ideal environment for our children to pick up life skills and competitive drives that will carry them a long way in life. That is why he pushes his deputies to be involved in youth programs.
