LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives are seeking help from citizens in identifying a man who robbed a Pitt Stop convenience store at 125 Rolling Meadow Lane near West Columbia at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives on Tuesday, October 30 released two surveillance camera photographs of the man as well as one surveillance camera photograph of the car that the man drove away in.

Witnesses told deputies that the man, who was African-American, was between 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-4 and weighed between 250 pounds and 300 pounds, Metts said. The man appeared to be between the ages of 20 and 30. The man was wearing gloves on his hands that often are worn by mechanics. The gloves were black, with a pattern on top of the gloves.

Witnesses also told deputies that the man drove away in a red car, possibly a Dodge Neon sedan, Metts said.

Metts asked anyone with information about the robbery or the man who committed the robbery to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site (www.lexingtonsheriff.com).
