Tuesday, October 2, 2012

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - In two weeks, the Columbia Classic Chevy Club will conduct a food drive between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 13 in the parking lot of the Woodberry Plaza shopping center at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Woodberry Road near West Columbia.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts encourages citizens to bring non-perishable food items that the Columbia Classic Chevy Club will donate to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department for the agency’s annual Christmas holiday food drive.

Citizens who have questions concerning the food drive can contact William Clayborne with the Columbia Classic Chevy Club at (803) 606-0509, Metts said.

The Sheriff’s Department conducts an annual Christmas holiday food drive in order to provide help for citizens in Lexington County who need assistance, Metts said. Food that is donated to the Sheriff’s Department later will be distributed to persons who need assistance by Lexington Interfaith Community Services and Harvest Hope Food Bank.

The Sheriff’s Department Christmas holiday food drive reflects the agency’s mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
