Chatty thieves wake homeowner
Thursday, October 4, 2012

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC - A Cordova man notified deputies after hearing at least two thieves trying to steal his air conditioning unit, according to a Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The man called deputies just after midnight Wednesday saying he was awakened by a noise just outside his window. He said he then heard at least two people talking and realized they were trying to take the unit from his bedroom.

The would-be thieves fled in a truck they had parked on the victim’s Hummingbird Lane property. He said several minutes later, a truck was seen traveling out of the neighborhood.

Deputies searched but did not locate a truck.

The unit was not taken.
