ACSO seeking leads in motorist robbery
Tuesday, October 23, 2012

AIKEN< SC - The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Saturday robbery during which two masked men with guns held up a motorist. The robbery occurred on Croft Mill Road at Fellowship Lane around 10 p.m. on Saturday, according to a report. The victim told investigators he was traveling on Croft Mill Road toward S.C. Highway 19 when a man wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt stepped into the road in front of the victim’s pickup truck. The victim told investigators that, once he stopped his vehicle, a second man wearing a red hoodie came around the back side of the vehicle carrying a shotgun, opened the driver’s door and told the victim to get out. The robber in the light hoodie was carrying a handgun, and both men were wearing ski masks, according to the report. After the victim got out of the vehicle, the robbers ordered him to lie on the ground on his stomach, and they took his wallet, which contained cash and a variety of cards. The second robber reportedly had the shotgun pressed to the victim’s back during the incident. The robbers took the keys from the ignition of the victim’s vehicle and told him to remain on the ground while they fled on foot, according to the report. The victim told investigators he remained on the ground for 10 to 15 minutes, then got into his vehicle, took the spare key from his pocket and drove to his home. Sgt. Jason Feemster said on Monday that investigators are looking for leads. Anyone with information on this crime can contact the Sheriff’s Office at (800) 922-9709.
