Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives seeking help identifying suspect
Saturday, September 8, 2012

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives are seeking help from citizens in identifying a man who attempted to break into Y B Broke Gold & Pawn, 2817 Augusta Road, West Columbia, on August 31. The man tried to break into the business by using a Ford Ranger pickup truck to ram the front of the business.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives on Friday, September 7 released a surveillance camera photograph of the man who attempted to break into the gold and pawn business. The man, who is white, appears to be between the ages of 20 and 30 and appears to be about 5-foot-9, with a stocky build and closely shaved head. The man has tattoos on his forearms and possibly his left calf. The man was wearing teal shorts and black athletic shoes.

It appears that the man was driving a white or gray Ford Ranger pickup truck, with a paper tag where the license plate should be, Metts said. The truck appears to be a model that was built in the late 1990s or early 2000s. The truck might have damage at the front and rear of the vehicle.

A copy of the surveillance video of the attempted burglary at the gold and pawn business will be available on the Sheriff’s Department Facebook page, Metts said.

Metts asked anyone with information about the attempted burglary, the man who attempted to break into the gold and pawn business or the Ford Ranger pickup truck used in the attempted burglary to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
