Thursday, September 6, 2012

COLUMBIA, SC - Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott announces the arrest of a man accused of breaking into a home and stealing several firearms.

Orlando Kendall Reeves (DOB: 11/17/1981) is charged with First Degree Burglary and Grand Larceny.

Reeves allegedly broke into a home on Rutledge Avenue on August 4, 2012 by kicking in the front door.

Once inside, Reeves is accused of stealing two gun safes worth nearly $1300.

According to the victim, the gun safe contained approximately 30 guns, mostly used for hunting. The guns have an estimated value of $50,000.00.

A witness at the scene aided CPD officers by providing the license plate of the vehicle Reeves was seen driving as he fled the scene.

CPD continues to investigate the whereabouts of the stolen property. In particular, serial numbers of the stolen guns have been entered into a national crime data base.

Reeves was arrested on August 21, 2012 at South East Park on Hazelwood Road where he was a City of Columbia Park Ranger under the Parks and Recreation Department.
